Hardly “farming illegal” as your title suggests.
More like “running bots to earn revenue from someone else’s online service illegal”.
That and using MMORPGs for casino purposes. Governments (especially US ones) tend to be pretty cagey when their monopolies on gambling licenses are threatened. Never try and stand between any government and money it thinks it somehow deserves…
The largest chunk of RMT (“real money trading”, are we beyond spelling out acronyms on first use now Raph?!) won’t take much of a blow from this new law. Paying someone to clean your house is not illegal and can’t be made so. Likewise, paying someone to play your game is also not illegal and can’t be made so.
You’re right, I should have written it as “Some farming and RMTing illegal” rather than the other way around.
