MUDDev Archive in forum form

Int posted in the comment threads here mentioning that he has imported the entire MUD-Dev archive into a PHPBB forum. This means that now you can read the discussion in threaded format, sorted by date. This is awesome! Thanks for your contribution to the community, Int! It’s available at http://muddev.wishes.net.

  1. Wow… this is great. Looks like I’ve got something to do for the next few months. 🙂

  2. The Author keyword search seems to be very incomplete (only returns a couple dozen for my name). But if I do a keyword search, I get plenty of results (returns 678 for my name).

  3. I haven’t come across any broken posts myself yet, does anyone have a post or thread id?

Here’s an example. There are many, many other examples.

The posts that contain only the following content are partially imported:

    > –Original Message–
    > From: mud-dev-admin at kanga.nu
    > [http://www.kanga.nu/lists/listinfo/mud-dev

This seems to be the case because replies to these messages quote whole passages of text that are not displayed.

  4. Okay the posts with an incomplete body were caused by a slightly too greedy regexp and should be fixed now. I’m out of time for today but I’ll look into the author search tomorrow.

  5. Been using Kressilac as my alias for quite some time here simply out of habit but figured I’d drop it so that others here know who I am if they already do not. Anyway, it was interesting to read some of my own posts again through the author sort. I thought I would find a bunch of “I really said that” posts and didn’t. What was the first reactions many of you had when searching for your own name and reading some of the stuff you posted a few years ago?
