I’ve mentioned the Temeraire books before — now news hits that Peter Jackson has optioned them. Here’s hoping something comes of it.

  2. What do you think would come of it?

  3. I think it will be done very well. Jackson is getting the WETA folks to start working on some models, and I think he can handle the epic battle scenes of the Napoleonic wars. One thing we have seen about Peter Jackson, he does hold source material in high regard. King Kong and LOTR could have been reimaginings and no one would have blinked twice, but BECAUSE of his faith in the source material, they were strong properties (although King kong’s Monkey love almost creeped me out in some scenes.)

My hope though is that he does the Hobbit while Temeraire is in early development. MGM has put the Hobbit on their production schedule and are looking to get Peter Jackson to sign on (Ain’t it cool news will have an interview with Jackson on the hobbit soon.) However Jackson currently has HALO in prepoduction but he is only producer on that one.

Point is I think the series is in good hands with Peter Jackson involved in it.
