Updated on

It begins with a discussion of semiotics, and from there leads into exploring the notion of “play,” specifically in two senses: freedom of interpretation and freedom of movement within a system. This then leads to a rubric for games that fall into one of four quadrants, and an examination of common techniques each quadrant uses.
