Chinese police arrested the pair after one partner reported the other for unfair revenue distribution. In business since last August, the gold farming operation had 20 employees and generated nearly RMB 1.6 million (US $228,915) in only nine months of dealing.

I’m betting gold farmers are not the exactly the best citizens in terms of following tax codes and reporting earnings.

What’s the crime here? tax evasion? If it’s unfair revenue distribution wouldn’t they only arrest the one guy?
What’s the crime? Report doesn’t say, but it could be they’re seen as defrauding the company operating WoW, could be that their business is unlicensed or doesn’t meet some of China’s myriad bureaucratic regulations… or could just be that the authorities see them as bringing their country into disrepute and so will punish them for something to make a point. That’s China for you.
Gold farming is not illegal in China. This is a post about a blog post about a news snippet on another blog post about a very small news printing from China. I thought you guys would know better :p
