vSide: Music Virtual World
vSide is open, the evolution of Doppelganger’s earlier work with PCDLounge and the Tyra Banks world and the vLES stuff for MTV. Looks like there’s a fair amount of people in there.
Edit: PS, they just raised $11m more, for a total of $25m.
I’d be interested in learning a bit about the evolution of their software. Last I recall they were reportedly using the Torque engine. And it seems I read that they were developing their own proprietary system, but I’m unsure. Anyone?

Game engine is modified Torque 1.3, 300 clients/server, 7 servers currently. Backend is Java and mySql.
Thanks, illuminarc. More I think about it, what I’m recalling was probably my own comment somewhere speculating what they’d do with the first round of funding.
