MMORPG Tycoon

June 10th, 2008

Ever wanted to run an MMORPG? Well, now you can without having to do the pesky step of actually creating one. :)

MMORPG Tycoon is an indie game written for a game contest. You have a procedurally generated MMO, and your job is to keep the forum posters happy.

I’m downloading it now… watch me suck at it.

For you, that is quite the metagame. Maybe you ought to try your hand at “World of World of Warcraft” Via the Onion, of course.

The download link doesn’t seem to be working here… did you manage to tank the poor guy’s webserver by posting this Raph?

Yeah, started taking a look at this last night. Right now, I haven’t really got the hang of playing it, but it certainly looks like it could be a lot of fun.

You dont have to play it, actually only need to know little about it, just keep the forum peeps happy if I read that right, lol

Forget the game, the simulated vector engine is rockin’!

Well I don’t know about that Raph, you were pretty good about it pre-launch to SWG.

Before you fed poor Thunderheart to the dogs. I guess that’s your way of getting revenge for all those essays arguing against single character servers

It took me about 2 hours to create a MMORPG with a constantly growing subscriber base and average satisfaction of around 4.
Didn’t manage to control “Forum Buzz” though. Perhaps I should have just made my forums subscriber only and handed out forum bans to all the nay sayers?

What interested me most though (and what I was hoping for comment on here?) was some of the basic assumptions made with regard to the MMORPG design elements and what keeps subscribers happy?

Heh, MMORPG Tycoon crashed. I’m sure there’s something clever to be said.

Love the game. Got quite a few players up to level 3, but had to quit to sleep.

This game needs a save function!

    Again, great game, Thanks,
