King Lud IC’s on fire

March 17th, 2007

Check out these great recent posts on double consciousness and designers as celebrities.

You know, just as we get the word that more print magazines for games are folding, it’s great to see that thoughtful real criticism of games thrives on the web.

Via Raph, Patrick Dugan has a good post on game design celebrities on his blog. I wrote a relatively long comment because it got me thinking, and any time I spend more than 30 seconds writing a comment, I hereby authorize myself to repost that comment on my own

These recent articles of Patrick’s have improved immensely, in terms of being readable, over his older stuff — they aren’t peppered with words like “hermeneutic” and “rhizome”. Now it’s like he’s actually writing to communicate with people!

(Sorry to be snippy, Patrick, but it’s true!)

Anyway this is good stuff and I hope he continues down this path…

Thanks for the encouragement Jon. Maybe doing accesible interface and narrative design for casual games has affected my writing. Or maybe now sthat I’m out of college my premium for bullshit has gone down.
