Polygon Gmen -Transmover-. Yummy. You need a key to get out the door. You have a gun that swaps places: you swap with whatever block you shoot.

It really does feel like Portal meeting Lode Runner. I need to go to work, or else I would keep playing. 🙂

  1. Argh! Curse you and the addictive little games you find and post about here! 🙂

  2. How the heck am I supposed to have time to pursue my metaplace world building and video production if you keep sidetracking me with completely fun and completely pointless distractions! Tsk tsk, you should know better, Raph! 😀

  3. I’m liking it better than Portal. Portal ended up being more timing based to beat the levels.

This you need to figure out where to go.

  4. Ack! (an hour later) The rest of us have to work too Raph! 🙂

  5. I’m all for nostalgia, but how could you be pimping a game that 20+ years post Donkey Kong is not as good as Donkey Kong? I realize you are going to throw the puzzle aspect at me and the fact that Donkey Kong didn’t have puzzles, but wouldn’t it have been possible 20 years ago to create a game that had puzzles that looked as good as Donkey Kong?

So what here is so fascinating? The fact that it’s free? The fact that it has crappy graphics and puzzles? The fact that a Metaplace user could potentially build something like this? I think your answer will be most illuminating.

  6. Nobody has made this particular puzzle game before, that I know of. That is what makes it interesting. The tech needed for it is 8 bit. So what? The tech needed for Tetris was also just 8 bit, yet if it hadn’t been invented and came along today, i would link to it and say “check it out, very cool game!”

It’s interesting because of the fresh game mechanic, basically. Most of the little indie games I post, I post because of the fresh game mechanic. Fresh game mechanics are relatively rare. They also often do not need new tech.

  7. It’s an awesome little game, but I’m totally stuck on Stage 21 >< I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get back down to the door once I get to the key.

  8. oh duh. I’m stupid. hah.

  9. I have to give it to you. You always post interesting and unique information. Still waiting on my card pack, lol.

  10. It is a clever combination of game mechanics. I don’t know how you can criticize it. And it is free. Somebody spent some time crafting puzzles for us to figure out. I don’t know how you can complain about that.

I was stuck on 21 for a while too.

  11. If one is offended that any game could be made in this day and age with 8-bit graphics, I think the continuing vitality of the roguelike scene will prove even more distressing.

On that note, the fifth annual Seven Day Roguelike Challenge just recently ended with twenty-five successful new roguelikes created: http://roguebasin.roguelikedevelopment.org/index.php?title=7DRL_Contest_2009

  12. […] Via Raph, check out this free Flash game that can best be described as Portal meets Lode Runner. […]

  13. Is there a way to become a content writer for the site?

  14. No… this is my personal website. It just happens to get a fair amount of traffic. 🙂
