Couldn't I make something that looked just like it which did something dubious if people clicked on it? They might decide to ignore any warning messages in the belief that it's from Metaplace and not from an unscrupulous designer.

Though Metaplace itself (as in you guys) are more like arbiters than actual interactive games masters, I'm sure someone could step up and provide a bunch of trophies with enough value to be proudly displayed in other worlds.
I don't know what you would reward the trophies for, however. Perhaps 'Break 50 concurrent users' or 'have multiple people in ten different zones within the same world'.
Anyway, yes, trophies = good thing. Trophies that are globally moderated by a trusted source = very good thing.

I would use the same kind of system for the tried-and-tested MMO kingpin — trophies.

Though Metaplace itself (as in you guys) are more like arbiters than actual interactive games masters, I’m sure someone could step up and provide a bunch of trophies with enough value to be proudly displayed in other worlds.

I don’t know what you would reward the trophies for, however.
