The rest of the world is here

April 18th, 2008

A few years ago, I warned everyone that “the rest of the world is coming.” Well, they’re here now. Check out these stats.

I suggest you go to the SlideShare site and view it full-screen, it’s text-heavy.

Well, good, only 30 percent read blogs for their news/current affairs. And that’s a good thing. Otherwise, we’d have more idiocy like this.

Prokofy, since I’m not really going to examine the stuff on that site too closely, can you fill me in on what’s idiotic about it? I mean other than it not really covering much that’s really “important”. Importance is too malleable to be a useful metric though, so I’m not really seeing what’s wrong with the site, unless it’s all factually wrong or something (And I really don’t want to watch the videos enough to find out myself).

Blogs do have some serious issues in regard to news reporting I agree, but what about that site highlights those issues? Also, the news media, at least in the US, has some serious problems with regard to news reporting as well… so you’re in a nasty situation with getting accurate information EVERYWHERE.
