The Sunday Song: Polliwog

April 13th, 2008

OK, I lied. It’s not a song. It’s more of a jam session. Since it wasn’t fully grown and looked likely to have warts even upon attaining adulthood, I named it “Polliwog.” Drum tracks, bass, acoustic, two electrics, and the piano all piled onto a standard blues progression played really fast.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Basically, I slammed together three different blues riffs I like to jam with, two for guitar and one for piano. They were originally all in different keys, but I piled ‘em all into one. If you want to add to the cacophony, it’s in E.

Heh. It’s a bit of a trainwreck, but by the time I was layering in the piano, I was having fun. :)

And fun is always right. It’s not like we’re making hits with millions on the line and Carrie waiting to burn down the gym if we get it wrong.

I’m hammering on the choral arrangement for Epiphany. Very time consuming. For giggles, I chorused the master mix. Makes a bad synth sound fat, but use with caution.

Yesterday my mates at the old studio were showing me a VST plug in for pitch correction that does it so well, they can create harmonies by dragging the wav pitch (no mickey mouse or other artifacts) to the right note one note/phrase. Perfect results. Cheap software too.

    NO FAIR!!! NO FAIR!!!

But I have to get one of those.
