The Sunday Song: MarketDecember 30th, 2007 |
This here’s a bit of an experiment.
I wrote “Market” originally as a solo guitar piece. It wasn’t anything too complicated — just two lines, mostly. Here it is on piano.

I have been fiddling with this other way, though.

People listening closely might notice that there’s a piece of the melody missing in the orchestrated version… just haven’t gotten to it yet, is all. Orchestration was one of the music classes I didn’t do when in college. So this has been fun. I definitely “get it” now about how the orchestra is the coolest instrument — so many timbres you can get by combining and blending stuff.

You’ve got a nice swing beat going there in the bright key of D. Interesting and entertaining.
Good stuff. When I listened to the piano version, I thought it could be made into a good rock song. But after hearing the second version, I’d rather here it developed more as a multi-instrument classical song, with less repetition and more variations on the main theme.
Keep ‘em coming.
