September 27th, 2007

I guess WarCry posted this interview I did with them while I was off in Japan (I am back now, btw).

I’m not sure why they call it an interview – it’s a piece on you with some quotes taken from an interview.

I think the train analogy is only valid in the business sense, consider that genres/forms of entertainment don’t die out simply because of advancements in technology. We still have people chiseling statues, and there are even a few people left who enjoy gazing at them.

Flash and handheld games have filled the void created by the absence of quick timing/pattern/puzzle/2d side scrolling games.

I still don’t know if linear character grind MMORPGs are going to be dead when WoW’s lifecycle ends, but something tells me blizzard will have an encore in some form, and I have a tough time believing they won’t find at least a semi-substantial playerbase.

If we’re going to call sculpture and art appreciation “entertainment” using the broadest definition possible, then I’d say we still have people doing a lot more than that to divert and hold their attention.
